Happy 2026!

At the beginning of a new year we usually look forward to starting many activities, making new plans and accomplishing many things. We often expect a lot of a new year. But what could the new year expect from us? What could we offer this new year that has just begun?

As a new plant that has just sprouted, a new year requires care and attention. May we all offer the next 365 days our best efforts, our best thoughts, sentiments, and resources to make meaningful contributions to our own lives and to those around us.

And how about starting with joy? This is the topic we will be exploring in our article of the month. Have you ever thought that joy can be consciously cultivated and experienced in our daily lives? Keep reading on to find out what Logosophy teaches about it.

The joy of living:
A treasure to be discovered and cultivated

Today, we will explore a topic that resonates with each one of us: the joy of living. It is a feeling we seek, value, and often find elusive. But what if I told you that joy is a treasure that can be cultivated and experienced in our daily lives?

  • Joy: a treasure we can discover and cultivate.
  • It is not by chance, but a conscious construction.

To begin, what does the joy of living mean to you? What is the first image or sensation that comes to mind when you think about joy?

1. Being conscious of life as a source of joy

Often, joy is in the simplest things, in the mere fact of existing and being aware of the life that pulsates within us.

  • “To feel in the mornings the happiness upon awakening; to feel it because one understands its meaning. To feel in the same way happiness in work and in everything one does during the day, and also in the thoughts that nest in the mind, and to feel it in rest, at night, is to be conscious of life and to experience happiness because one feels the universal life pulsating within oneself.” (Introduction to the Logosophical Cognition)
  • Joy comes from the full awareness of life in all its moments.

In what moments of your daily life do you feel this “happiness of awakening,” of truly being conscious of life?

2. Joy as a mystical and healthy expression

True joy is not superficial. It is a deep and genuine manifestation of our sentiments.

  • “Likewise, joy is a mystical expression when it is whole-hearted and emanates the aroma of grateful things, for it is a delicate manifestation of inner feelings. It is not so when it represents feelings that are perverted or distorted by petty thoughts.” (The Mechanism of Conscious Life)
  • Authentic joy is linked to noble sentiments and elevated thoughts.
  • It is not to be confused with distorted or petty feelings.

How can we discern “whole-hearted” joy from that which may be illusory or based on petty thoughts?

3. The path to the joy of living: internal transformation

The pursuit of the joy of living often requires an inside-out transformation. It is an invitation to overcome and abandon everything that limits us.

  • “If you seriously intend to improve your life, do not leave any of its parts unchanged. Change life completely. Replace fear, if there is any, by valor, and you will feel the joy of life.” (Bases for your conduct)
  • Joy is the result of a continuous process of improvement and the elimination of fears.
  • To completely change life, replace fear by valor.

What “fears” or “parts of life” do you perceive need to be modified to feel a fuller joy of living?

4. The Importance of Thoughts for Family Joy

Our thoughts have a profound impact not only on our individual joy but also on the harmony of the environments in which we live, especially at home.

  • “Knowledge of the thoughts and their conscious exercise represent for women as much as for men one of the highest ranking attractions that will render major benefits. Homes that are living hells, which for the sake of appearances make it a norm to feign normality, are glaciers from which the warmth seems to have fled forever. However, after their dwellers accomplish the first steps of the conscious evolution process, they can be transformed into an oasis of cordiality, harmony and understanding. The thoughts that dominated the mind, such as those of wrath, irritability, provocation, intemperance, confusion, and the like, disappear, driven away by the light focused upon them by transcendent knowledge, and the home regains an atmosphere of calm and placidity. The adoption of the logosophical method by a woman in her role as a mother, wife, sister, daughter, and so on, especially helps to bring about peace and joy within the family environment and, above all, the consciousness of leading an extraordinarily happy life.” (Mechanism of Conscious Life)
  • The knowledge and discipline of thoughts transform the family environment, bringing peace and joy.
  • This promotes the disappearance of negative thoughts and return of calm, as well as cordiality, harmony, understanding, and the awareness of an extraordinarily happy life.

How do you perceive the influence of thoughts on the joy and harmony of your family environment?

5. Affection and enthusiasm as pillars of joy

Joy also manifests and strengthens through affection and enthusiasm, essential elements for a higher human coexistence.

  • “I hope that you will not forget what you heard tonight and will be ready to begin this year’s journey with the greatest enthusiasm; that there will always be much joy here. I created a new world and said that it is the birth of a new civilization, and that this is also sustained by an element of incomparable strength, which is affection.” (Logosophy)
  • Enthusiasm and affection are incomparable forces that sustain joy and a new civilization.
  • Affection enhances and softens respect, uniting people in understanding.

How do enthusiasm and affection manifest in your lives and how do they contribute to your joy and that of those around you?

6. Mental discipline for inexhaustible joy

Maintaining joy is not passivity, but a conscious exercise of mental and volitional discipline.

  • “Furthermore, in all activities, (…) try to be joyful; but with that internal joy that should become inexhaustible, with that joy that does not end after a moment of enjoying some pleasure, some happiness; and the RESERVE OF JOY you possess should be permanently at the disposal of your will to thus dominate the sad aspects that any concern may impress on your physiognomy.” (Logosophy)
  • Inexhaustible joy is a conquest of the will, which dominates sad aspects.
  • Having a “reserve of joy” to dominate concerns.

What strategies can you use to maintain internal joy, even in the face of challenges or concerns?

7. Joy in everyday life: a continuous exercise

Joy is a continuous exercise.

By Luciana Galleran

And if you want to expand life further, unite your joy to the joy of your fellow man. Unite your effort to that of others and you will then feel that your life grows because you will also receive by reflection what the others feel.”
